Portable media technology manufacturer Archos has revealed it is entering the computer market.
The company’s new Archos 10 laptop includes a 10.2-inch LED screen, 160GB of hard drive space and 1GB of Ram.
Expected to be available from the start of next month, the system is also designed to function with Windows XP, while it comes with software including photo editing and TV playing programs.
Henri Crohas, chief executive officer of Archos, said the computer is "ideally suited for the first-time buyer or as a supplement to a primary notebook".
"Its competitive price and practical functionality provide customers with a user friendly way to access the internet, email, work and social network, in total security," he added.
Sony recently also unveiled a new portable computer system.
The company has claimed that its Vaio P-series Lifestyle laptop, which is expected to be compatible with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology, is the length of a business envelope.
