Manufacturer Acer is set to launch a laptop which features the next generation of wireless technology, it has been reported.
According to Pcworld.com, the Acer Aspire 5920 laptop will feature a built-in WiMax module.
WiMax is viewed by many as the successor to Wi-Fi and the new innovation should help widen the number of locations where a broadband connection is available.
The notebook computer is already in production and should be available to buy from the end of the year.
Speaking at a WiMax news conference in Taipei, Trisha Pan of Acer, explained that the notebook will also be sold with a WiMax subscription as part of the deal.
Ms Pan likened this to the manner in which mobile phones are sold with a contract included.
Last week, Sony announced that it is expanding its range of Vaio laptops.
According to the manufacturer, the new products are "incredible gadgets equipped with features that allow them to be used quite effortlessly."
