Brother makes ’sensible A3 printer’

Computer manufacturer Brother has "done most of the job well" with its MFC-6490CW A3 multifunction printer, according to a new review.

Simon Williams from TrustedReviews said that the device has a "neat, high gloss" auto-document feeding paper tray, which can hold up to 50 sheets.

The widescreen LCD control panel on the front of the MFC-6490CW was also praised by the reviewer for being a "sensible" way of displaying printer options to the user.

In a speed test, the device produced over four black and white pages per minute and just over two for a colour A4 document.

"There’s not a lot of advantage in choosing highest print quality, as photo quality - the next level down - is hard to tell from it," wrote the reviewer.

"Both print modes produce very naturally coloured photo prints with high levels of detail and smoothly gradated tints."

Another A3 printer, the Konica Minolta Magicolor 8650DN, was recently named a Best Buy in a review for Digital Arts magazine.
