Around one in five women are concerned about appearing stylish at parties during the festive period, according to new research.
The study by Marks & Spencer (M&S) found that 21 per cent are not sure their clothing will be in fashion for the events, while 20 per cent are worried about dressing for their shapes.
According to Mirror.co.uk, women are also expected to budget around £50 for their outfit, while 28 per cent are set to modify dresses from last year.
Neil Hendy, head of design for M&S Partywear, told the website that his company was aware of such concerns.
He said: "There’s lots of anxiety and pressure associated with getting it right for your Christmas party."
The Daily Telegraph’s Hilary Alexander recently claimed in an article that tartan is a major trend this festive period.
Writing for the newspaper, she added that designers and fashion houses including Alexander McQueen, Comme des Garcons and Vivienne Westwood have embraced the trend.
