Tartan ‘a top trend for the festive period’

A fashion writer has claimed that tartan is set to be a major trend over the coming festive period.

Hilary Alexander of the Daily Telegraph has claimed that designers and fashion houses including Alexander McQueen, Comme des Garcons and Vivienne Westwood have notably embraced the trend.

Writing in the newspaper, she also highlighted some advice for those looking to match the material up with other clothing this Christmas.

"Tartans are traditionally woven from several different colours, so it is relatively easy to choose a complementary shade which works," she explained.

"Bright red or winter white complement the predominantly red Royal Stewart; rich jade-greens or navys are great with Black Watch."

News about the emerging fashion trend has come after it was reported that hip hop star Kanye West is planning to move to London in order to pursue his dream of being a fashion designer.

According to Daily Mirror, the rapper-turned-singer is hoping to enrol on a course at Louis Vuitton’s office in the capital.
