A new pair of commemorative trainers is being released by Puma.
The footwear manufacturer is releasing the Tommie Smith Clyde trainers to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his famous black power salute on the podium at the 1968 Mexico Olympics.
Retrotogo.com reports that the trainers are a replica of the shoes he wore that day, when he received gold for winning and breaking the world record in the 200 metres event.
The classic Clyde trainers feature gold references on both the tongue and in the lining and also has an embossed gold medal on the heel.
It also has a reference to his record breaking time of 19.83 seconds on the tongue label.
The Tommie Smith Clyde trainers are set to retail for £79.
Sportingnews.com also reports that there could be a line of commemorative clothing to celebrate Michael Phelps’ historic eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics.
