Gold-medal winning gymnast to be face of Smart Girls Rock campaignAn Olympic gold medallist is set to be the new face of Vanilla Star Jeans.

Nastia Lukin, who won one gold, three silvers and one bronze medal as part of the US women’s gymnastics team at the Beijing Games is set to be the global ambassador of the company’s Smart Girls Rock campaign.

A national campaign has been launched across the US featuring Ms Lukin in magazine, bus, kiosk and billboard advertisements.

Mark Levy, president of Vanilla Star, said that she was the perfect choice for the adverts, which are purposely opposing the current trend of "exploiting teens’ bodies" in ads.

"We feel that Nastia is special, not only for her amazing skills but as a role model and inspiration to young generations. She’s truly living the dream," he added.

The host of TV show Project Runway, Tim Gunn, recently told People magazine that he "could not explain" Katie Holmes’ recent appearances in baggy, rolled up "80’s style jeans".
