Casio to launch special edition watches

A leading digital watch manufacturer is planning to launch several special edition timepieces, according to reports.

Casio is releasing the devices to recognise the 25th anniversary of the G-Shock brand’s introduction, while some models inspired by film director Spike Lee also featured in the collection.

TechRadar.com reports that the designs will be available for a limited period only.

In a statement released to the website, Casio described the special edition watches as "classic yet contemporary".

The manufacturer added that the timepieces were "so tough you could drop it onto concrete from a height of 10 metres; strap it to the wheel of a trail bike and take it for a spin; or even use it as an ice hockey puck".

Nautica recently unveiled its own limited edition watch designed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its launch.

The company is planning to produce 1,983 sets featuring the watch, which is 100-metre water resistant, to recognise the year of its establishment.
