Resident Evil and Devil May Cry comic books to be releasedA series of comic books based on video games Resident Evil and Devil May Cry are to be created.

DC Comics and video game publisher and developer Capcom have joined forces to produce the books, for which a release date is yet to be confirmed.

"Capcom is thrilled to be partnering with DC," remarked Germaine Gioia, senior vice-president of licensing at the company.

"Comics are a critical component in Capcom’s merchandising strategy for our most cherished franchises, as they target the same discerning, loyal fans that care most about these established brands," she added.

The Resident Evil series of video games has sold more than 34 million copies since the first game was released in 1996.

To coincide with the release of the franchise’s comic book, the latest instalment in the series, Resident Evil 5 will be launched.

Some two million units of Devil May Cry 4 have been shipped, since it was released in North America in February.

In related news, Gary Oldman, who plays James Gordon in The Dark Night has revealed a video games version of the film is to be developed.
