From Home to Homemade in No Time

We all feel the guilt from time-to-time that we aren’t able to give our family and friends the type of homemade goodies that exist in our fantasy of perfect domesticity. We have busy jobs and schedules that make it lucky if we even have time to sit down for dinner as a family.

The good news is that there are some fun gadgets out there that allow you to spend quality time with loved ones and make something that will tempt their taste buds at the same time. Ice cream makers are top of the list for home-made treats. Complicated you say? No! Here are a few machines that will help you go from basic ingredients to a bowl of sumptuous home-made ice cream in less than 45 minutes.

On the high-end, professional scale are machines such as the Cuisinart ICE 1.5 quart ice cream maker. At just under £300 it’s certainly an investment and you should ensure you have enough hungry ice cream fanatics to make it worth the spend. That said it’s very simple to mix ingredients to a perfect consistency,  lift the lid while it’s in motion and add additional ingredients, and store left overs in a 1.5  litre freezable bowl. Taking it up a notch even more is the Baumatic Professional Ice Cream Maker with simple pushbutton control operation, a capacity of 1.7 liters, churning time of just 20-40 minutes, and also storage for finished icecream. It’s a dream of sweet, sinful ice cream…and it should be, at £478 it tops the ice cream maker scale.

Less in price, but no less appealing, is the M&S ice cream maker with digital display. It produces ice cream in just 35 minutes, has a sleek stainless steel design, and includes a digital display to monitor temperature and time, all for just £99. And if you just simply want a nice bowl of homemade heaven, then the Kenwood 1 quart maker is a good choice, at just £25 it has a lot of the features of the bigger, more expensive machines, such as the ability to add ingredients as you go and a canister to store uneaten ice cream.

The key is to ensure you actually will use your ice cream maker from time-to-time; target twice a month and you’ll be sure to get your investment back in gratitude from your family and friends.
