A washing machine that does not need any detergent could be set for a UK release, according to one expert.
Writing for Smart Planet, Adam Vaughan states that some reviewers have been looking to get their hands on the Haier WashH2O in anticipation of the device being released in markets outside of France.
He says: "Why should you care? Because this could be an opportunity to say goodbye to the messy hassle and regular cost of laundry detergent."
According to Mr Vaughn, the washing machine works by passing an electrical current through the water which allows the OH- ions created by the process to remove dirt, while the H+ ions act as a bleach.
Rumours suggest that the device will be released in the UK for £500 later this year, he adds.
Earlier this month, a study by Which? found that the washing machine is considered to be one of the top ten life-changing gadgets.
