As premier and champions league matches are heating up and reaching their climax you may be getting the itch to finally invest in a LCD television.
No matter what team you support you may feel a little left out when squinting at home on your old TV or muscling your way through the crowds at the pub.
The good news is that prices for LCD TVs have continued to come down while the quality has gone up. Below are a few of the most talked about and reviewed new LCD televisions to consider. And it’s important to note that no matter what your objective – the creation of a full home cinema or just a cosy corner to catch the football – the best choice for a television is the one that has the right features for you at a competitive price.
On the high end of the quality (and cost) spectrum is the new Sharp LC-46XL2E; with great depth and more natural images it falls more into the category of a television that you would build a room around. And while this Sharp model can run £1,200 - £1,300, if you are willing to make the investment it’s worth it. The only downside may be the constant visits from mates who want to watch the match!
LG produces a range of LCD TVs that are under £1,000 in price (and for smaller screen televisions, under £ 500) and offer some great features and design elements. LG has also announced a new designer LCD range which includes 24 models within eight series and at screen sizes that vary from 19 to 52 inches.
Wall mounting your LCD TV is a great way to save space while keeping the entertainment in your favourite room. Hitachi is adding three new LCD’s to its Wooo UT range. The televisions are just 35 millimetres with 1080p resolution and are available in 32-inch, 37-inch and 42- inch screen size. Another great feature that you may want to consider with any LCD investment is internet compatibility which will allow you to watch video files from your computer.
Overall there is more competition from manufacturers which is great for consumers – passing along advancements and features that were not even on the horizon a year ago. When investing in a LCD TV you should also give some thought to other features that you may be able to use, such as internet compatibility. As downloading of movies becomes more popular it may be a wonderful additional perk to your new purchase.
