Colourful sunglasses might be the height of fashion this summer, but women are better off sticking to more classic designs, according to one expert.
Writing for the Times, Lisa Armstrong explains that while some over-the-top sunglasses have their charms, people look better in more restrained numbers.
She says: "My extensive research suggests that [people] find the classic tasteful sunglasses of their mothers boring. That would be boring in the same way that Mies van der Rohe is boring. Oh well, they’ll learn."
The reason celebrities have taken to wearing garish specs is because it gives the impression that they do not take themselves seriously, she adds.
But anyone who does want to follow the current trend can get cheaper version of the fashion item at Topshop, Ms Armstrong points out.
Last week, Gaia Geddess, fashion editor of US magazine Harper’s Bazaar, told the Daily Telegraph that headscarves are set to be popular in the coming months.
However, she predicted that this would probably be a "short-lived fad".
