UK drivers prefer satnav with Geordie accent
Almost half of all British drivers would prefer their satellite navigation system to have a Geordie accent, a survey has found.
The poll of more than 2,000 motorists from across the country by The Co-operative Insurance saw the Bolton accent gain second place with 21 per cent of the vote followed by Yorkshire.

Navman releases 3D satnavs
Navman has released a new range of satellite navigation systems that give prominent buildings 3D dimensions.
The S30 3D, S50 3D, S70 3D, present more than 1,000 buildings across Europe in 3D to make it easier for motorists to identify landmarks while driving.

‘Speech recognition safer for motorists’
Motorists who use speech recognition software while driving are safer than those who control in-car devices manually, research has shown.
A study by Braunschweig Technical University, released by Nuance Communications, found that drivers who use a satellite navigation system with speech recognition are ten times less likely to swerve within a single lane than those without, Channel 4 News reports.

Navigon 2110 ‘worthy TomTom rival’
The Navigon 2100 Max is "a worthy TomTom rival", one reviewer has claimed.
According to Trusted Review’s Jonathon Bray, the satellite navigation system, which is priced at £169.99, "is not a bad deal", even when the one-off fee of around £40 needed for TMC reception in the UK is taken into account.
